About Me
Hello! I’m Janet
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
I am an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist and human. I strive to create an inclusive, non-judgmental space for all my clients. I am passionate about equality, advocacy and awareness.
I began my career in nonprofit agencies that support pregnant and parenting teens, homeless families, and domestic violence survivors. I spent time working to prevent dating violence by educating and empowering teens to understand healthy relationship dynamics, consent, and communication. Some of my most fulfilling work was with court-appointed juveniles and also people impacted by cancer. I believe every role and every nonprofit, especially every client, prepared me for the intensive, one on one work that private practice allows me to do now.
I’ve worked with many people who experienced trauma in their childhood and believe trauma comes in different shapes, sizes, and forms. At our cores, most of us want to know we are not alone in our struggles, whatever they may be, and I see therapy as a partnership where I walk alongside my clients toward healing and growth. I believe strongly in client self-determination and see it as my responsibility to get to know you and start from where you are. I utilize a client centered approach with CBT, DBT, and solution-focused techniques while also incorporating creativity including art, writing, and play to express feelings that are not always easy to verbalize. And because of my social work beginning, I am not shy about suggesting different resources to help in all areas of your life.
If you’re looking for a therapist who listens, empowers, and walks alongside you, I’d love to help you evolve into the person you aspire to be. .
My Approach & Values
I am eclectic in a world where the word “eclectic” is frowned on. I am diverse and have a wide array of experiences to draw from for providing the unique support and guidance that individual clients need. I believe in inner child work along with changing our mental programming, self-talk, and beliefs that were ingrained before we can even remember. I utilize techniques from the psychodynamic field, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, psycho-educational approaches because I believe the more you know about how your brain and mental health work, the better you can help yourself to heal and change, and also throw in some creativity along the way. I think there is power in words so I’m often suggesting client’s write letters to themselves or others for therapeutic use only. I absolutely will talk to you about journaling and gratitude, self-care, and being kind to yourself!

I Work With Individuals and Groups
Individual Therapy
I am only doing teletherapy. Yes, I started this during the Covid pandemic but the longer I do it the more adamant I am about the benefits. There is nothing more comfortable for clients than your own home or your environment. I’ve done sessions with people in their offices or a conference room at work which for many means they can do sessions without the stress of hurrying back to work. Teletherapy doesn’t make you sit in traffic, or sit in a waiting room with strangers, or sit in a therapy office with a new therapist for the first time. Teletherapy allows you to still do a session when you’re not feeling 100% or if you have an injury or if you don’t have a babysitter. Teletherapy allows me to see more clients that I could see in person. It allows me to be at my home with my dogs and sometimes show my dogs to clients who also often show me their pets. In a weird way, teletherapy seems more personal than in person therapy. If you’re hesitant, I’d say give it a try.
Art Therapy
I believe getting your hands colorful can help in processing trauma, relaxing the brain, and learning to set yourself free to play.
Group Therapy
I believe we all want to know that we are not alone. Groups help us see that. The power of groups is phenomenal.
